More Babies - More Fun And More Work
By Bruce Danos
Babies are lovely but not too many of them in one go. Considering that multiple births are becoming more common, it is better to be prepared to handle your children when they arrive into this world.

Multiple births are more common today than in the past due to fertility treatments. These methods of treatment encourage more than one sperm to inseminate an egg. Usually, this results in the formation of only one zygote, which eventually becomes a fetus, and then a baby—but sometimes this method results in the formation of several zygotes. As these zygotes develop into fetuses, doctors can quickly tell this pregnancy is going to be abnormal.

At times mothers carrying the multiples face very difficult situations of having to take a decision of aborting one or more zygotes in order to ensure the survival of the others. It happens in very rare cases that the multiples are carried to term, with the chances decreasing with a higher number of babies. In such cases the mother is often asked to abort a specific number of zygotes to make sure that the rest of the are healthy. Though the decision of abortion is a difficult one, it should be looked in the perspective that it is meant for the best interest of the children.

When faced with this decision, speak with a number of doctors, as well as clergy and other individuals that have experienced your situation. Once you have made a decision, stand behind it fully and either opt to have the procedure or to take the risk. The choice is yours and your alone to make. You should not feel guilty or compelled to have or not to have the procedure by your doctor.

Since the mothers are required to go to bed once the are developing, it is advisable to resolve any of the necessary business before the mother is confined to bed. As the multiples are not often carried till the term, the doctors attempt to stop the labor as long as possible.

Make preparations for the arrival of the babies. Set up a nursery and ask friends or family members for any pieces of furniture or other baby items that are necessary in a nursery. If you have to buy these

items, check out the local thrift stores or yard sales. You might find these things at a reasonable cost. Since you will require more than one, your budget may not allow expensive purchase.

You will need all the help from your friends and family to take care of more when they arrive. As it is, you will need time to recover from pregnancy and birth. You can't possibly run a household and care for all the children all by yourself. So, it's best to make proper arrangements well in time. Both the parents may have to take time off work for a while in the beginning. However, sooner or later both of you will have to go back to work, so you should think of other arrangements as well.

More translate not only into additional joy but it also means a greater task to handle. Therefore, it is better to do some careful planning in advance before your bundle of joy comes into the world.
